Just discovered this podcast and am so happy I did. I'm quite fussy with my podcasts too. Will be catching up on all the rest ASAP. Just started a Substack in the past couple of months where previously I - like you Helen - had a Squarespace that I'm sure nobody ever went on (unlike you Helen) and cost me a couple of hundred quid a year!
Oh and I should add - the only other writing podcast I currently listen to is #AmWriting (amwriting.substack.com) and while I love the hosts of it dearly, it's nice to listen to some British accents discuss the craft of writing!
This is so brilliant! Finally got a chance to catch it!
It is so interesting to me, not just as someone who is attempting to start her own Substack (well so far I've written an About, and a Welcome!) but also as someone who isn't confident in the writing she produces and struggles to allow herself to find the time to write and develop.
Thank you for doing this. Off to listen to the next episodes!
How lovely to hear both of your voices - such a treat to hear my fellow writing friends talk about exciting projects to come. I look forward to following along throughout the year!
Finally found space to listen to the conversation and may I just say - this is such a wonderful accountability tool. Thank you for this joyful conversation and for your vulnerability and transparency.
Thoroughly with you both on the "icky feeling" around putting value on our work. This is actually something I've pondered a lot on this last few weeks as I am getting ready to launch my first paid Substack offering. So thank you for your encouragement there.
Another thing that resonated was Helen's intention to balance Substack with Youtube. I am also trying to find the balance there and finding ways to link the two somehow. Your idea of utilising Substack to go deeper into a topic really stood out. Excited to explore that within my own niche. Thank you for that!
Two of my favorite voices (and people too) to listen to and to learn from...so excited for both of you. And so proud of you, Claire--what a big, brave step forward. Looking forward to more of your stories. ✨💫✨
Ooh, I love this. Can't wait to hear about your journeys as I'm currently on a very similar path of sharing my creative work, cultivating community and connections, as well as looking for ways to make it part of my income.

Thank you Donna! And congrats on taking your own first steps! It’s nerve wracking in the beginning but worth it x
Finally got to your episode on my dog walk last night. Inspired to go on this journey with you both.
I love listening to this, so great to hear about your own Substack journeys as I begin mine. It really does feel like a breath of fresh over here.
