Bite-Sized Course: If Not Instagram & Twitter Then Where Can You Build an Audience?
Some thoughts on how you can build an audience in 2023.
Instagram just isn’t cutting it anymore. And Twitter is going through a state of flux with users worried about its future. Plus, to be honest, it’s not the cosy community on there it once was.
And Facebook…well…need I say anything?
If you started your platform some years ago to provide an audience for your art and writing then the platforms may still be working out for you. But starting one of these platforms today? It’s hard to get reach, traction and ultimately motivation to keep it going.
So what can you do? You might be a writer looking to grow an audience to make yourself and your writing more attractive to literary agents and publishers.
Or, you might be an artist, musician or a crafter. And you want an audience.
Where can you go to build a platform?
(And do you have the energy to start all over again?)
I hope this bite-sized course gives you hope, motivation and reassurance.
There are, I believe, three platforms that are worth investigating. Two of them will mean slower growth BUT potentially give you an audience that is far more interested in what you produce. And the third, might give you a bigger audience (and therefore look good to those who look for big platforms like agents and publishers) BUT might not be as loyal or want to buy from you in the future.
The first two are Substack and YouTube. And the third one is TikTok.
Now don’t run away! Stick with me while I explain.
